Attic Moisture

Moisture in attic spaces can originate from several sources and may lead to mold growth, wood rot, and insulation or ceiling damage. Aside from roof leaks, one of the most common causes is inadequate ventilation. Another potential source of attic moisture is air conditioning condensate leaks. Household activities such as cooking, bathing, and laundry generate large amounts of indoor humidity, which can increase humidity in the attic above. If bathroom fans, dryer vents, or kitchen exhaust systems improperly discharge into the attic instead of outdoors, excess moisture can build up rapidly.
