About the Author

The author of this website has over 40 years experience in the construction and engineering industries. Earlier years were spent in construction and then performing inspections at construction sites involving steel, concrete, wood framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, roofing, installing finishes, etc. Next, years of structural analysis and design experience were followed by two decades of forensic investigations involving the diagnosis and remediation of structural and other building failures. This experience, combined with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and ongoing professional development and training provide an intimate knowledge of how buildings are put together and what works, and what doesn’t. The author has performed engineering work in multiple countries, and is a licensed builder and multi-state licensed professional engineer.
